Freshman CSC Student Is 2009 MSU Idol
Murray, KY (November 16, 2009)
The Murray State University Council of College Heads once again did an excellent job of identifying and encouraging some excellent vocal talent to put on a show - and what a show it was.
MC'd by Drs Debbie Owens and Brian Clardy, the show played to a decent-sized crowd of screaming fans.   Each Residential College came to cheer their "homies" with great gusto. A variety of styles - Jazz, Country, Hip-hop etc - were on tap from some very talented vocal chords.
This year's winner was Kelsey Bogard, Freshman Computer Science student from Hester College. Her rendition of "I am changing" demonstrated her rich voice very effectively. The audience loved it and rose to their feet to show their appreciation.
There were other great performances as well. Other familiar songs included, "My Girl", "I have nothing", and "Jolene". Katie Hughes'  (Hart College) performance of "Jolene" won her the second place
While the judge's were tallying the scores, the audience was treated to some wonderful items by Sigma Alpha Iota ("One fine day") and V.I.T.A.L. The latter was a group of performers giving their tribute to Michael Jackson. The choreography and dance moves were a treat to watch.
The council of Residential College Heads is chaired by Dr Ann Landini. She was assisted by the RSEC staff of Matt Jones, Paul Corder and Wesley Hughes.
