Since then he has contributed significantly to the department, college, university and community in numerous ways. Besides a PhD (University of Kentucky, 1992), he has a graduate degree in Operations Research (MSOR, University of Kentucky 87) and a graduate degree in Mathematical Statistics (M.Sc, Osmania University, 80) Beginning with a teaching schedule that included Decision Support Systems and Expert Systens, he has taught almost every course that forms the current Information Systems staple at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. Since 2001, he has served as the Chair of the department and has been instrumental in attracting some excellent new faculty to the department. He was also the lynchpin for the design, promotion and delivery of the newly sanctioned MS program in Information Systems (starting Fall 2008). Dr Raj's research interest are varied. They include empirical research in Knowledge Acquisition and Electronic Social Networks as well as pedagogical research in curricular topics. He has presented his research at several major conferences nationally and within the region and published in numerous national and international journals. To make his classroom lectures more relevant, he has, over the years, taken on a dozen or so software projects of varying complexity to learn first-hand of the issues our graduates could face in their careers. His newest project was an off-shoring project for a local small business. The result was an understanding of the skill-set critical for the next generation of CSIS graduates.
